Trinity is home to West Berkshire’s newest specialist resource; the ASD Unit. This resource caters for students who have an Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP) for Autism Spectrum Disorder and, without specialist intervention would struggle in a mainstream school.
The unit is a state of the art space with two classrooms, various meeting and small group rooms, a kitchen/common room, an office and a sensory free quiet zone.
Within the unit there is a dedicated team of staff; currently two teachers and five Teaching Assistants. The unit will have 15 students with Autism Spectrum Disorder when full and the staff team will grow as more students join the unit.
The students are supported by the staff to access the curriculum within mainstream lessons. They are also given a variety of supporting interventions within the unit space such as life skills sessions, social skills sessions, esteem builders and therapy. The unit also provides a safe space within the busy life of Trinity.
