Trinity School

House Performing Arts

Press Release

Trinity School was delighted to showcase our incredibly talented students in our House Performing Arts Competition on Thursday 21st October. Running for the first time since 2019, this entirely student led event saw each house develop a performance based on the theme ‘A Night at the Theatre’. The students have worked incredibly hard since the start of term to plan their performances, ensuring they included dance, drama and music within this and taking responsibility for all technical, set, costume and programmes. This is a highlight of the school calendar and it didn’t disappoint!

In an adjusted format, each House performed in turn to a small audience of family and friends and to the judging panel. Each of the houses included performers from Year 7 through to Year 13 with many highlights, including Dragon House’s ‘Time of My Life’ dance and hugely entertaining compere, none other than our own ‘Boris Johnson’, who had the audience laughing throughout with many well timed speeches. Griffin House’s opening number from Avenue Q was highly creative with use of puppets, adding a new dimension to the performance, alongside a beautiful rendition of ‘Only Us’ combining lives vocals and dance. Phoenix House wowed us with a stunning choral performance of ‘Seasons of Love’ and their high energy opening number ‘You Can Feel the Beat’.

Following each performance, the judges had the tough job of deciding which House would win each award. The results were:

Best Technical and Programme – Phoenix House

Best Costume – Griffin House

Best Drama – Dragon House

Best Music – Phoenix House

Best Choreography – Phoenix House

Best Original Concept – Griffin House

The Overall House Performing Arts Winners for 2021 were Phoenix House!

Congratulations to all the students involved in each performance on your high quality and very professional performances!
