War Poetry Remembrance Evening

Trinity held its first War Poetry remembrance evening on Thursday 1st November, to remember all those who gave their lives during conflicts and commemorate the centenary of the end of the First World War.
We were joined by the Mayors of Newbury and Thatcham, to remember and celebrate those soldiers who lost their lives in combat zones, both historical and in more recent times.
Students read poems and shared readings to mark the occasion of remembrance. William Weaving from Year 11 said “It is important that we remember them so they did not die for nothing; they died for our freedom. Trinity’s WW1 poetry evening helped those who may not know, what life was like during the war. It is also important to remember the armed forces that protect us today and stop anything like that happening again”
