SCHOOL BASED TEACHER TRAINING

Who we are

The Newbury ITE Partnership (Reading ITE Hub) is a School Based Initial Teacher Training provider. We work with The Institute of Education at the University of Reading, who is a large Initial Teacher Education provider, training over 400 future teachers each year and ranked 9th in the UK for Education (The Guardian University Guide 2024). They have well-established partnerships with over 400 schools in Berkshire and the surrounding area.

The University of Reading’s vision for excellence is Transforming lives through education and our courses ensure that trainees become:

-Evidence-informed teachers

-Compassionate professionals

-Responsive and reflective practitioners

-Creative critical curriculum thinkers

-Ethical community participants

You will be taught by a diverse and experienced community of academics, benefiting from their expertise and experience.

We are recruiting in the following subjects for the academic year 2024-25, English, mathematics, biology, chemistry, physics, history, geography, design and technology and modern foreign language (French, French and German or French and Spanish)

Trinity is the lead school in the partnership. We work with other schools, including our Trust schools Fir Tree Primary School and Nursery and Speenhamland School. We also have training links with other schools in the area to provide flexibility for second placement opportunities and particular subject specialisms.

What is School Based Training?

A School based ITE programme will give trainees a largely school-based training programme, supported with time spent at the University of Reading.

Unsalaried places are available to anyone with an appropriate degree; unsalaried trainees have access to student finance, but also very attractive bursaries of up to £30,000 in shortage subjects including maths and physics.

Why choose the Newbury ITE Partnership?

The Newbury ITE Partnership offers an excellent blend of university-based theory with a school centric approach to hands on teaching. The graduated approach to teaching allows trainee teachers to begin their career with confidence, experienced mentors work closely with the trainee to allow them to develop at their own pace and ensure trainees make progress throughout their time in their placement schools.

The school has worked with The University of Reading for many years and mentors at the school have an excellent working relationship with the University Tutors at Reading.

The Newbury ITE Partnership also offers an excellent and robust school based professional studies programme based on the latest research in education. Trainees who come to Trinity are highly employable and often find roles either within our schools or within the Reading Partnership.
