In September this year we were delighted to be able to offer some of our KS3 students extra support with their reading during morning tutor times. A selected group of students have been paired up with a year 12 student and they meet 2 mornings every week to read, discuss their books, and have support in choosing new, age appropriate books from the Library. Walking in to the Library and the 6th form Centre, and seeing the year 12 students reading with their KS3 partner is a pleasure and creates a really positive attitude to reading.

This is only achievable as so many of our year 12 students have given up their mornings to partake in this scheme. On Tuesday 6th December we were pleased to be able to host a celebration breakfast for them as a big thank you! The scheme will be continuing in the January term.

We must also give special thanks to Kirsty Hayman, year 13, who has continued with her reading buddy from last year and still regularly meets them for reading.
