Overseas school trips - Coronavirus

The Newbury Academy Trust is conscious that in light of the current Coronavirus, parents and guardians may understandably have questions about their children and whether they should be allowed to participate in overseas trips.
We have been working hard with students across the Trust to ensure that they are aware of the most effective ways to keep good personal hygiene and therefore minimize the risk of infection (any kind).
The Trust takes its guidance regarding the Coronavirus from the following Government sites;
https://www.gov.uk/government/topical-events/coronavirus-covid-19-uk-government-response
https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/public-health-england
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/travel-advice-novel-coronavirus
As of Tuesday 3rd March, 2020 the advice from these sites and via the Department for Education is that trips should go ahead as planned unless the area/s of travel are identified in the latest advice section.
For our trips to The Loire Valley and St Anton, Austria we have been in contact with the tour companies. Both companies have confirmed that at present the trips will go ahead. In the event they receive a mandate not to travel, a full refund per person would be received.
Should you decide to withdraw your child from a trip for which full payment has been made, it is not possible for the Trust to give a refund as the money has already been paid to the tour operator. If the trip is subsequently cancelled by the tour operator, you would be entitled to a full refund.
