Belonging Awards Year 7

Introduction

WELCOME TO YEAR 7

Secondary school offers a wide variety of activities for you to explore. This year, you have the challenge of participating fully in all the opportunities on offer and achieving the Trinity Belonging Award. Our ethos is ‘Personal Excellence and Collective Responsibility’. This means that as a Trinity School student, you should be doing everything you can to be the very best you can. You should also be doing everything you can to encourage each other and to celebrate everyone’s achievements.

WHAT IS THIS AWARD?

The Trinity Belonging Award is made of seven challenges. The seven challenges are:

  • ATTENDANCE    • SKILL
  • BEDROCK           • SPARX
  • CHARITY             • SPORT

HOUSE

Over the next few pages of this passport, you will see what you have to do to meet each challenge. If you think you have passed a challenge, then record in this passport what evidence you have to support your claim. Then have a staff member sign it.

Attendance

WHY IT’S IMPORTANT

HOW TO ACHIEVE?

The more often you come to school, the more you learn! The more you learn, the

more chance you have of being able to choose your course or career when you

leave school when you’re older. Research shows that people who attend school for

95% of the time or more gain significantly better grades in their exams than those who

do not. School is also a great place to make new friends, to develop new skills and find out more about what you enjoy doing.

You must have 95% attendance from September 3rd 2025 to June 25th 2026.

This stamp can only be redeemed after June 25th 2026.

Bedrock

WHY IT’S IMPORTANT

HOW TO ACHIEVE?

Every week in Year 7, the English Faculty will set you some homework to improve

your English vocabulary using a computer

programme called Bedrock. You earn points by completing this homework and have an expectation that you earn 30 points

per week. This is important because if you

have a stronger vocabulary it allows you to understand so much more about the world around you.

You must earn 1000 points in Year 7.

Charity

WHY IT’S IMPORTANT

HOW TO ACHIEVE?

At Trinity School, we pride ourselves on how much we try to help others. It’s part of our efforts towards Collective Responsibility.

There are so many opportunities to get involved with our charitable work.

These include cake sales, house charity events, food and clothing bank donations and non uniform days.

You must participate in one charitable event in Year 7.

House

WHY IT’S IMPORTANT

HOW TO ACHIEVE?

You already have an allegiance to a

House at Trinity School. We are exceptionally competitive about this! We have House events ranging from

Sport to Performing Arts to Maths and

ADT and many more. You also contribute to your House every day

with all the House Points that you earn.

The House system is a key part of our school and you are strongly encouraged to come and join in.

You must participate in at least 2 House events in Year 7 and earn 400 House Points.

Skill

WHY IT’S IMPORTANT

HOW TO ACHIEVE?

There are loads of clubs and companies on offer at Trinity School. Almost every Faculty in the school offers a club or company.

At the back of this booklet there is a list of clubs that you could get involved in. Clubs

or companies are a brilliant way of making

new friends and learning new skills that you don’t always get to learn in the classroom.

You must commit to a club for at least 1 half term. In order to earn the Skill stamp, this

club or company cannot be one used to achieve the Sport stamp. You can see

a list of eligible clubs and companies on the back page of this passport.

Alternatively, you can earn this stamp by performing in the Whole School Show, the

Christmas Concert, the Summer Concert or Dance Fest.

Sparx

WHY IT’S IMPORTANT

HOW TO ACHIEVE?

Every week in Year 7, the Maths Faculty will set you some homework to improve your Maths skills using a computer

programme called Sparx. Completing

this is important because having strong

Maths skills allows you to tackle so many real world problems that you will experience when you leave school.

You must complete 90% of all Sparx homework tasks set in Year 7.

This stamp can only be redeemed after June 25th 2026.

Sport

WHY IT’S IMPORTANT

HOW TO ACHIEVE?

Physical activity is just as important as all of the activities you do in the classroom.

Physical activity makes you feel good, improves your concentration and helps you

with your school work. Trinity School offers a range of opportunities for you to get

involved in PE. Getting involved is a great

way to build new friendships and enjoy your time at school.

You must commit to attending weekly training or rehearsals in PE for at least half a term.
