Trinity School Celebrates Inspiring Voices at Annual House Speech Competition
Trinity School proudly hosted its Annual House Speech Competition, bringing together pupils and students from across the Trust under this year’s powerful theme: “Global Stories, Shared Voices.” The event showcased outstanding oracy skills, creativity and thoughtful reflection, as students explored diverse perspectives from around the world.
The competition began with our Trust primary schools, where pupils captivated the audience with a wide range of imaginative and thought-provoking speeches. Fir Tree House celebrated a strong performance, with Berkeley House being overall winners. Speenhamland’s House winners were Azul, who were equally impressive in their delivery and originality. The audience was treated to speeches that sparked both reflection and delight, ranging from unexpectedly fascinating discussions about baked beans to beautifully retold fairy tales shared across different cultures.
Building on this success, Trinity’s own competition followed, raising the bar even higher. Students demonstrated confidence, passion and maturity as they shared personal stories and explored global themes with insight and originality. Phoenix House was crowned overall winner, reflecting the strength and consistency of their speakers across all key stages.
Individual winners in each category were:
• Key Stage 3 Speaker Award: Hana Antoni
• Key Stage 4 Speaker Award: Betul Acar
• Key Stage 5 Speaker Award: Jade Anns
Each winning speech stood out for its depth, originality and ability to connect with the audience, highlighting thought-provoking, diverse and shared experiences that resonated strongly with all present.
The competition was a true celebration of student voice, demonstrating the importance of storytelling as a way to build understanding, empathy and connection. Charlotte Wilson Executive Headteacher said, ‘I am immensely proud of all participants, whose courage and creativity embodied the spirit of this year’s theme.’
